The Acting Chief State Prosecutor, Besim Kelmendi, hosted the Minister of Justice of North Macedonia, Igor Filkov

Prishtina, October 8, 2024 – In the frame of the exchange of experiences of regional justice systems, the Acting Chief State Prosecutor, Besim Kelmendi, together with the Chief Prosecutor of the Special Prosecution, Blerim Isufaj, the prosecutors in the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor, Aleksandër Lumezi , Laura Pula and Agron Qalaj, hosted the Minister of Justice of North Macedonia, Igor Filkov, together with his associates.

Initially, Mr. Kelmendi informed Mr. Filkov about the organizational scope and current work processes of the State Prosecutor, with special emphasis on the development of activities aimed at strengthening the prosecutorial system, expressing on this occasion his readiness and commitment to continue cooperation with the institutions of the prosecutorial system and other mechanisms of the Republic of North Macedonia. “I welcome the continuation of bilateral cooperation with justice institutions, taking into account the full and mutual interstate support and support in terms of guaranteeing the integrity and professionalism of our prosecutorial systems’, said Mr. Kelmendi, among other things.

Following the meeting, the Acting Chief State Prosecutor held an extensive conversation with the high delegation of the state of North Macedonia, especially regarding their interest in having expanded information on the functioning of the Case Management Information System (CMIS) in the system prosecution.

On the other hand, the Minister of Justice of North Macedonia, Igor Filkov, has thanked Mr. Kelmendi for the reception and the opportunity to exchange experiences in order to have a clearer picture of building cooperation bridges to strengthen the rule of law. in both countries.

In addition, this delegation also visited the premises of the Special Prosecution Office, where it was closely acquainted with the work process, development and functioning of the CMIS in this Prosecution  Office, which is a major project spanning the entire prosecutorial system of the Republic of Kosovo.

At the end of this meeting, the interlocutors agreed to establish continuous cooperation throughout the future processes within the framework of international legal cooperation and general interstate cooperation for the prevention, prosecution and adequate punishment of the perpetrators of criminal offenses of organized crime, corruption and international terrorism.
