Strengthening Cooperation between the State Prosecutor and the Kosovo Police

Prishtina, September 30, 2024 – The Acting Chief State Prosecutor, Mr. Besim Kelmendi, held a regular collegium with all the chief prosecutors of the country’s prosecution offices, representatives from the prosecution offices, and prosecutors from the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor. Representatives from the U.S. Embassy in Kosovo also attended the meeting.

At the invitation of Acting Chief Prosecutor Kelmendi, representatives from the Kosovo Police also participated in the meeting, including Deputy Police Director Mr. Fehmi Hoti and the Director of the Crime Investigation Division, Mr. Fatos Makolli.

During the meeting, discussions focused on coordination and cooperation in taking joint actions between the State Prosecutor and the Kosovo Police.

The participants positively evaluated the current level of institutional cooperation and interaction, emphasizing the need for further advancement to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of criminal investigations.

At the conclusion of the meeting, all attendees agreed that regular meetings between the heads of both institutions—the State Prosecutor and the Kosovo Police—should be held moving forward.
