Pristina, March 25, 2025 – The Head of the Assets Recovery Office, Prosecutor at the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor, Mr. Bahri Hyseni, held a joint meeting today with representatives of the AIRE Centre – Western Balkans Program and representatives of the British Embassy in Pristina.
At the outset of the meeting, Prosecutor Hyseni informed the attendees about the role of the Asset Recovery Office and the steps taken toward its operationalization. Additionally, discussions focused on the Office’s future goal of drafting a law on the Assets Recovery Office, in accordance with the recommendations of the EU Directive, which mandates the establishment of such offices in every member state.
Representatives of the AIRE Centre, which is committed to strengthening the capacities of judicial systems in the region to address these challenges—particularly through the effective use of asset recovery as a tool to combat and prevent criminal and illicit financial activities—offered training programs and study visits for the officials of the Assets Recovery Office in various Western Balkan countries to enhance the Office’s efficiency and effectiveness.
Meanwhile, representatives of the British Embassy in Kosovo also expressed their willingness to collaborate with this Office, offering assistance in drafting the concept document for the Law on the Assets Recovery Office and facilitating cooperation agreements between this Office and its counterpart institutions in the Western Balkans.
