Acting Chief State Prosecutor requests from the chief prosecutors commitment to increase the efficiency in handling criminal cases

Prishtina, May 24, 2024 – Acting Chief State Prosecutor, Mr. Besim Kelmendi, held the regular collegium with all the chief prosecutors and representatives of the country’s prosecution offices, in which present were also prosecutors of the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor and the representative of the US Embassy in Kosovo, Mr. Etrur Maloku – Senior Legal Officer at OPDAT.

In this meeting, Acting Chief Prosecutor Kelmendi discussed with the attendees the results of the State Prosecutor’s institution based on the Work Report for 2023, where the performance of all prosecution departments in handling criminal cases according to the relevant registers, the challenges and the daily difficulties faced by the prosecutor’s offices, especially with the lack of the number of prosecutors, as well as other issues related to the efficiency of the work of all prosecution offices at the country level.

In this regard, the Acting Chief State Prosecutor has asked the chief prosecutors of the prosecution offices to be maximally engaged in increasing the efficiency in the handling of criminal cases.

Another important issue that was discussed in this meeting was the need for the application of alternative procedures as efficient and productive procedures for solving criminal cases by state prosecutors.

Also, according to the agenda, other professional issues were discussed in this collegium.
