Office of the Chief State Prosecutor

The Office of the Chief State Prosecutor is led by the Chief State Prosecutor, appointed by the President of the Republic of Kosovo upon the proposal of the Prosecutorial Council of Kosovo. The Chief State Prosecutor holds jurisdiction over the entire territory of the Republic of Kosovo and exercises exclusive jurisdiction over cases in the third instance before the Supreme Court, as well as over all cases involving extraordinary legal remedies. Additionally, the Chief State Prosecutor has the authority to take charge of any case in any Prosecution Office of the Republic of Kosovo as defined by law. The Chief State Prosecutor serves as the head of the State Prosecutor and bears overall responsibility for the management of the State Prosecutor  and the  supervision of all prosecutors. The Chief State Prosecutor issues  rules, instructions, guidelines, and decisions for the internal regulation of the State Prosecutor. Within the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor, alongside the Chief State Prosecutor, there is the Deputy Chief State Prosecutor and seven (7) prosecutors who handle cases of the third instance.
