The Acting Chief State Prosecutor requests from the Chief Prosecutors an increase in efficiency in handling cases of international legal cooperation and the application of alternative procedures

Prishtinë, 25 October 2024 – Acting Chief State Prosecutor, Mr. Besim Kelmendi, held the regular collegium with all the chief prosecutors of the country’s prosecutions, representatives of the prosecutions and prosecutors of the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor, where the representatives of the US Embassy in Kosovo also participated.

In this meeting, criminal cases related to international legal cooperation were discussed, in which case Acting Chief Prosecutor Kelmendi has requested that these cases be treated with priority in order to raise the image of the State Prosecutor in relation to international partners..

Another important issue that was discussed in this meeting was the application of alternative procedures, as efficient and productive procedures for solving criminal cases by state prosecutors, the application of which will affect the reduction of criminal cases, the reduction of costs the state and the parties in the procedure, as well as saving time.

For this issue as well, the Acting Chief State Prosecutor has requested from the chief prosecutors of the prosecutions the application of these procedures in every case where there is a legal possibility, encouraging them to engage maximally in increasing the efficiency in the application of alternative procedures.
