Gjilan, August 16, 2024 – The Basic Prosecution in Gjilan has detained one individual, the suspect E.O., for a period of 48 hours, on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of “Endangering Public Traffic” under the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo.
It is suspected that on August 15, 2024, around 20:00, in Gjilan, the suspect E.O. caused a fatal traffic accident. While driving his vehicle, he allegedly failed to yield to the pedestrian, the now-deceased Sh.S., who was crossing the road at a pedestrian crossing. The suspect struck the pedestrian with the front part of his vehicle, causing severe bodily injuries. The pedestrian was initially taken to the Regional Hospital in Gjilan for medical assistance and later transferred to the University Clinical Center of Kosovo (UCCK) in Prishtina, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The suspect E.O. is currently under detention, and further legal actions will be taken against him.
