The Special Prosecutor’s Office is a specialized body for criminal investigation and prosecution, which acts as a first instance body within the prosecutorial system of Kosovo. The Special Prosecutor’s Office has jurisdiction over the entire territory of the Republic of Kosovo, acts and represents cases in the court determined by the relevant law on courts.The Special Prosecutor’s Office is a specialized body for criminal investigation and prosecution, which acts as a first instance body within the prosecutorial system of Kosovo. The Special Prosecutor’s Office is competent to investigate and prosecute criminal offenses punishable by ten (10) years or more of imprisonment, criminal offenses of official corruption, criminal offenses against official duties, and criminal offenses of accepting or giving bribes in the private sector , provided that the damage caused or the material benefit obtained from the criminal offense is more than five hundred thousand (500,000) euros.

The Special Prosecutor’s Office has four permanent departments as follows:

• War Crimes Investigation Department
• Organized Crime Investigation Department
• Department for the investigation of Terrorism
• Department for the investigation of Corruption and Financial Crime
