Prizren, February 25, 2025 – The Basic Prosecution in Prizren informs the public that, following several months of investigation in cooperation with the Regional Police Unit in Prizren, the Directorate for Organized Crime, and the SOU Unit, a search was conducted at two locations, resulting in the arrest of two suspects, D.G. and L.G. They are suspected of committing the criminal offense of “Usury” under Article 331, paragraph 2, in conjunction with paragraph 1 and Article 31 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo (CCRK).
The arrested suspects are believed to have taken advantage of the victim’s difficult financial situation by lending money with monthly interest rates ranging from 15% to 20%. The victim made several interest payments, but when they could no longer afford the monthly rates, the suspects imposed weekly interest, leading to unbearable financial burdens for the victim.
The operation was conducted in the Prizren region, where, following the collection of evidence through special investigative measures in the field, the suspects were apprehended.
During this action, the State Prosecutor seized two (2) vehicles, weapons, cash, and other material evidence related to the aforementioned criminal offense.
The arrested suspects are currently under a 48-hour detention order, and within the legal timeframe, the prosecution will submit a request for their detention on remand.
