Gjakova, May 20, 2024 – The Basic Prosecution Office in Gjakova, informs the public that the action to seize the items used for the degradation and destruction of the environment is ongoing.
After an inspection carried out by the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, in cooperation with the Kosovo Police, it was found that in some villages of the Municipality of Rahovec, the environment is being degraded due to the illegal activity of extracting gravel along the Drini i Bardhë riverbed. .
The coordinating prosecutor for the investigation of Crimes against the Environment has ordered the initiation of the case for the criminal offense “Pollution, degradation or destruction of the environment” from article 338 of the KPRK.
Also, it was ordered to seize one (1) transport truck, three (3) excavators and one (1) separation machine with all accompanying equipment used in the commission of the criminal offense.
The Prosecution office announces that the action to seize the means used in illegal activities will continue until the capture of all the means and responsible persons.
The Prosecution office informs the public that it remains fully committed to combating such illegal phenomena that degrade the environment and calls on citizens for cooperation in combating these phenomena.
