Gjakova, April 3, 2024 – Chief Prosecutor of the Basic Prosecution in Gjakovë, Mr. Enis Gashi, together with the coordinating prosecutor for criminal offenses against the environment Mr. Kastriot Memaj , hosted Mr. Vesa Satamo, from the Environmental Crimes Monitoring Unit in EULEX.
In this important meeting, they discussed the management and performance of the prosecution in relation to the handling of cases of criminal offenses against the environment, how they deal with concrete cases and the steps taken against the perpetrators of these criminal offences, including the challenges and achievements of the prosecution.
Mr. Gashi and Mr. Memaj informed Mr. Satamo, that criminal offenses against the environment are treated with priority and that indictments have been filed against the persons involved, as well as the items used to commit these criminal offenses have been seized.
In close coordination with the police, prosecutors have taken all necessary actions to ensure the implementation of the law and to guarantee that persons involved in criminal offenses against the environment face legal responsibility for their actions.
The meeting was an important occasion for the exchange of information and the coordination of actions for the protection of the environment and law enforcement, Mr. Satamo appreciated the commitment and efforts of the Basic Prosecution Office in Gjakova, in this regard, and expressed readiness to help in the fight against the perpetrators of these criminal offenses.
