Gjakova, 2 february 2025 – The Basic Prosecution in Gjakova, Serious Crimes Department, informs the public that it has issued a Decision to Initiate Investigations against the defendant with the initials E.Th. and has submitted a motion to the Basic Court in Gjakova for the imposition of detention on remand for a period of 30 days.
According to the Prosecution’s motion, it is stated, among other things, that there is a well-grounded suspicion that the defendant, E.Th., on 01.02.2025, at approximately 10:25 AM, in Gjakova, on “Yll Morina” Street, specifically in the premises of “E…”, deliberately attempted to deprive the injured party, A.J., of life. On the critical day, the defendant, acting as the owner of the bar while serving customers, got into a dispute with the injured party. In the heat of the argument, the defendant attacked the injured party with a sharp object – a knife, stabbing him multiple times in vital areas of the body, primarily around the stomach. As a result of the inflicted injuries, the injured party was immediately transported to the Emergency Department of the Regional Hospital “Isa Grezda” in Gjakova and, due to the severity of his condition, was later transferred to the University Clinical Center of Kosovo (QKUK) for medical treatment.
These actions form the well-grounded suspicion that the defendant committed the criminal offense of “Attempted Murder” under Article 172 in conjunction with Article 28 of the CCRK.
