Pristina, February 25, 2025 – The Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo, informs the public that today it has detained D.R., of Serbian nationality, on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of “War Crime against the Civilian Population”, sanctioned by article 142 of the Criminal Code of the former Yugoslavia, as the law in force at the time of the commission of the criminal offense.
Preliminary investigations show that the suspect during the war in Kosovo, in 1999, committed war crimes against the civilian population in the Gjakova region.
By order of the Special Prosecution, the defendant is under temporary arrest and detention for 48 hours and will be brought before the Pre-Trial Judge within the legal deadline for further proceedings.
