The Head of the War Crimes Investigation Department, in the Special Prosecution Office, is making an official visit to Colombia

Pristina, December 2, 2024 – At the invitation of the State Prosecutor of Colombia, the Special Prosecutor from the Special Prosecution, Mr. Ilir Morina, in the capacity of the Head of the War Crimes Investigation Department, participated in the international conference on the topic: “Prevention of Sexual Violence in Armed Conflicts”, which was held in Bogota, Colombia.

The purpose of the official visit was to exchange experiences between the Special Prosecution of Kosovo and Colombia, in handling cases of sexual violence as a war crime.

In his speech at this conference, Prosecutor Morina, among other things, emphasized that it must be remembered that war crimes are not simply a legal issue, they are a serious violation of morality and human rights, deeply affecting the soul of the affected communities and leaving wounds that will be felt for a long time by many people.

During this official visit, Prosecutor Morina met with the former President of Colombia, Mr. Juan Manuel Santos, and with the Director of the Special Prosecution for War Crimes, Mr. Giovanni Alvarez.
