Press release from the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor

Prishtina, March 18, 2021 – As Chief State Prosecutor, I am concerned and at the same time ready for justice to be done in the country. Therefore, in order to prevent bias and to avoid prejudices in the case of the murder of Agonis Tetaj, within my legal competencies, today, I decided to take the case from the prosecutor of the case and reassign it to another prosecutor.

We will also ask the trial panel not to proclaim the completion of the main trial, but to collect other necessary evidence, which will fully uncover the truth in this criminal-legal case, in accordance with Article 357, paragraph 1 of the PCPCK.

Also, following the evaluation of the case, all those who have conducted possible unprofessional behavior and in violation of the law will be held accountable for their actions.
It is therefore important for everyone and the general public to understand that the State Prosecutor make no exception for anyone, no matter where he/she works or with whom he/she cooperates.

In our work, we will be based on the law and will serve only justice, addressing accurately and completely all the facts, which are important to issue a legal decision.
On the other hand, we urge everyone to use constructive language, without interfering with the administration of justice.
As Chief State Prosecutor, I assure my family and all citizens that I will work for maximum justice in this case.
