Prishtina, June 28, 2024 – Chief Prosecutor Zejnullah Gashi received the Italian Ambassador, Antonello De Riu and his adviser, Nikollë Perlaska, inside the premises of the Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Prishtina.
Initially, Chief Prosecutor Gashi welcomed the attendees and informed them about the functioning and activities of the Basic Prosecution Office in Prishtina, as the largest basic prosecution office in Kosovo. Among other things, he emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability, as one of the priorities of this prosecution office, to then continue with other priorities such as: handling cases of domestic violence, fighting economic crime and corruption, criminal offenses against sexual integrity, minors in conflict with the law, etc.
In this meeting, the importance of cooperation and coordination of activities with the Italian state for the prosecution system was discussed, where Chief Prosecutor Gashi and Ambassador De Riu emphasized the possibility of training with Italian prosecutors with a focus on economic crimes, seeing this as a unique opportunity to shared different perspectives from which the legal system of Kosovo would benefit.
