Joint reaction of the KPC and the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor to the threats of the Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Basic Prosecution in Peja, Mr. Ersan Qavolli

 

Prishtinë,  11 October 2024 – The Prosecutorial Council of Kosovo (KPC and the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor (OCSP), strongly condemn the threats made through social networks to the prosecutor of the Department for Serious Crimes, at the same time to the Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Basic Prosecution in Peja, Mr. Ersan Qavolli, which come as as a result of his official work related to the actions taken by the State Prosecutor in the case of plantations with narcotic plants, recently discovered.

KPC and OCSP emphasize that these threats are ugly, unacceptable and intolerable acts, therefore they inform those who hide behind them that they are determined to stand strongly in support of prosecutor Qavolli and will offer him full support for his work in the prosecution of perpetrators of criminal offenses.

KPC and OCSP announce that in cooperation with other law enforcement institutions, all concrete actions and measures are being taken to identify and arrest the persons who threatened prosecutor Qavolli and, at the same time, they are seriously treating this criminal action until the enlightenment of in its entirety, which is aimed at hindering the exercise of its constitutional and legal functions and duties.

In this regard, KPC and OCSP assure the public opinion that such threats and blackmails, whatever and by whomever, which are made against state prosecutors will never deter the goals and continuous efforts to strengthen the rule of law in Kosovo.
