Detention on remand is required for the police officer who abused the official duty
Mitrovica, May 25, 2022 - The Basic Prosecution Office in Mitrovica - Department of Serious Crimes, has filed an application with the Basic Court in Mitrovica requesting to impose the detention on remand against the suspect A.R., due to the well-founded suspicion of having committed the criminal offenses “Abusing official position or authority” under Article 414 of the CCRK, “Obstruction of evidence or official procedure” under Article 386 of the KPRK, as well as “Providing assistance to perpetrators after the commission of criminal offenses” under Article 380 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo.
According to the facts and evidence provided, there is a well-founded suspicion that the suspect A.R., as an official - a police officer of the Rapid Response Unit, while he was on duty to secure the scene of the incident in the business facility in the village of Izvor - the municipality of Zveçan with the suspected owner, S.N., damaged the security cameras that were placed in the facility where the inspection was carried out and a laboratory for the production of narcotic substances was found, as well as 10,000 narcotic plants of the marijuana type.
With his actions, the suspect A.R. committed the above mentioned criminal offenses.
The suspect has been detained for 48 hours by the decision of the prosecutor.
The hearing to impose the detention on remand is expected to be held before the preliminary procedure Judge of the Basic Court in Mitrovica.
