NOTIFICATION FROM THE OFFICE OF THE CHIEF OF STATE PROSECUTOR
Prishtina, April 8, 2021 - The Office of the Chief State Prosecutor informs the opinion that it had already started taking all legal actions even before the “Kallxo.com” broadcasted the investigative journalism story to the public, broadcasted last night on 07.04.2021, regarding the allegations that “5 thousand euros” were given “to close the case to the Prosecutor’s Office”.
Upon receiving the information regarding these suspicions, on 10.02.2021, the Chief State Prosecutor authorized the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo (SPRK) to begin investigations to fully investigate the case, which involved three persons in video recording.
The Special Prosecution Office immediately started investigations, which were conducted with high intensity and priority.
We inform the opinion that the investigations have been completed, in which case sufficient evidence has been provided and very soon a final decision will be issued by the Prosecution against three persons regarding the criminal offense “Trading in Influence” under Article 431, paragraph 1 and paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code, which was in force in 2017, when it is suspected that criminal offenses were committed.
Also, the Chief State Prosecutor, Aleksandër Lumezi, has requested from the Chief Prosecutor of the Basic Prosecution in Prizren, Admir Shala, as the competent authority, to take all necessary actions provided for by the Law against the prosecutor of the case if it is proven that she has committed eventual conduct, which is contrary to the Law on disciplinary liabilities for judges and prosecutors.
The State Prosecutor remains committed to enforcing the law against every individual and illegal actions regardless of his or her function and position, making no exception for anyone, no matter where he or she works or whom he or she cooperates with.
