The “Crime Victims’ Rights Week” concluded with various activities

Prishtina, October 31, 2022 - Between October 24-28, 2022, various activities were held to mark the “Crime Victims’ Rights Week”, which was organized by the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor, with the motto “Moment of reflection for institutional chain”.

The opening of this week marked by holding a conference, where the attendees addressed with random speeches: Acting Chief State Prosecutor Mr. Besim Kelmendi, H.E. Ms. Vjosa Osmani, President of the Republic, Jeffery M. Hovenier, Ambassador of the United States of America, Enver Peci, President of the Supreme Court, Jetish Maloku, Chairman of the Prosecutorial Council, and Demë Hasanaj, Acting Manager of the Office for Victims’ Protection and Advocacy.

In this case, Acting Chief State Prosecutor Besim Kelmendi expressed his full commitment to strengthening the rule of law and protecting crime victims, calling for professional and institutional cooperation and coordination, in order to provide all institutional capacities to protect crime victims, from the moment of their identification, during various legal procedures until their full recovery and rehabilitation.

 

Meanwhile, throughout the week, worktables held in the seven regions of the country, where participants were leaders of local and international institutions. At these tables, institutions highlighted the challenges faced by when working with cases where they offered assistance in the protection of crime victims. In addition, at these regional tables, the participants gave recommendations, and emphasized that a fair and coherent process should be provided to all victims, with an emphasis on their full rehabilitation.

 

After the end of the marking of this week, Acting Chief State Prosecutor, Besim Kelmendi, thanked the US Embassy in Pristina, for the support in the organization of this week and the contribution given to the advancement of the rights of crime victims.

 

"Crime Victims' Rights Week" aims to honor crime victims and increase awareness of their rights, and is organized with different mottos every year by the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor.
