Indictment filed against twenty persons for Smuggling of migrants
Mitrovica, February 15, 2022 - Basic Prosecution in Mitrovica - Department of Serious Crimes, has filed an indictment, in the Basic Court in Mitrovica, against eight (8) defendants with initials S.S., B.P., Sh.Xh., H.M., H.D., R.A., M.K., I.S., due to the grounded suspicion of having committed the criminal offense “Smuggling of migrants” under Article 164, paragraph 5 in conjunction with paragraph 1 and Article 31 of the CCRK, as well as twelve (12) defendants with initials T.F., H.K., E.U., A.I., V.N,. R.N., A.N., A.P., M.P., N.K., B.H., and I.S., due to reasonable suspicion of committing the criminal offense "Smuggling of migrants" under Article 164, paragraph 1 and Article 31 of the CCRK and in connection with Article 77 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo.
According to the request that the Prosecution submitted before the court, there is a grounded suspicion that the suspects organized the smuggling of migrants - Syrian foreign nationals, in order to directly benefit the material benefit from the illegal entry of persons to the Republic of Kosovo, who were not citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, enabling them to cross the Kosovo-Serbia border illegally.
The State Prosecutor has proposed to the Basic Court in Mitrovica that the defendants be found guilty of criminal offenses and sentenced according to law.
