Detention on remand required against a gynecologist for irresponsible medical treatment
Gjilan, May 22, 2021– The Basic Prosecution in Gjilan, Department for Serious Crimes has requested the imposition of detention on remand against the defendant V.TH., due to grounded suspicion that the defendant has committed the criminal offense “Irresponsible medical treatment” as provided for with the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo.
According to the request, there is a grounded suspicion that on 21 May 2021, the defendant V.TH., in the Gynecology Ward at the Regional Hospital in Gjilan, treated the injured party D.TH., irresponsibly in such a way that during the delivery, using inappropriate methods of treatment, after delivery, for a short time it was found that the baby is without signs of life.
State prosecutor has issued an order to send the lifeless body of the child for autopsy to the Institute of Forensic Medicine, while the defendant V.TH., is held in detention for 48 hours.
