The 169th meeting of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council is held
Pristina, 3 July 2019 - The Kosovo Prosecutorial Council (KPC) held its 169th meeting, which was chaired by the Chairman Bahri Hyseni, whereby a series of items on the agenda were reviewed and approved.
Consequently, members of the Prosecutorial Council have approved the list of members of the investigative panels composed of 30 state prosecutors, who will serve to investigate the alleged disciplinary offenses. Also, the Council has established 4 investigative panels for 4 cases, which were received after the entry into force of the Law on Disciplinary Responsibility of Judges and Prosecutors. These panels are selected by lot: the first panel has a one year mandate, the second panel has two year mandate and the third panel has a three year mandate, these panels consist of three members and by two reserve members for each panel.
The Council also decided to allow two prosecutors to pursue postgraduate studies in the United States for the academic year 2019-2020 in the Scholarship Program for Legal Education at Wake Forest University in North Carolina.
The Council at today's meeting also presented the Report of the Committee on Budget, Finance and Personnel, presented by the Chairperson of this committee, Prosecutor Deshire Jusaj, and the Ad Hoc Committee Report on the Review of the Request of Former Prosecutor Ali Rexha was presented by his chairman, Prosecutor Haxhi Sinanaj, whereby the request for compensation of the basic salary supplement for the period of suspension was rejected.
The following was rejected the Appeal of the Deputy Prosecutor of the Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina, Ibrahim Berisha, against the decision to appoint the Kujtim Munishi Prosecutor as Acting Chief Prosecutor of the Basic Prosecution in Pristina, as no decision on the Council's decision is allowed because they are final.
At the end of the meeting, the Council decided to approve the Report of the Committee for Performance Evaluation of a Prosecutor, while Chairman Bahri Hyseni announced that on 27 June 2019 he signed a memorandum of understanding with the Center for International Legal Cooperation (CILC), the purpose whose cooperation is the promotion of an independent and impartial criminal prosecution system through advancing media cooperation and increasing the administrative capacity and efficiency of the Council. This memorandum will commence on 1 September 2019 and will last for a period of twenty months within the framework of the project "Support for an independent, professional and impartial prosecutorial system" of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Kosovo
