Collection, analysis and use of statistics for the work of prosecutions, topic of the workshop organized by KPC with international expert

The Commission for the Administration of Prosecutions, chaired by Mr. Jetish Maloku, has organized a two-day workshop supported by the Office of the Council of Europe in Pristina, in which members of the Prosecution Council of Kosovo, prosecutors of the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor, chief prosecutors and prosecutors of the country's prosecutors' offices, the CMIS working group, the representative of the EU Office in Kosovo, Mr. Mats Persson and officials of the KPC Secretariat and the prosecutio Performance Review Unit participated, and through online participation refer the experts and KOSEJ coordinators in the CEPEJ Secretariat, specifically the representative of the Public Prosecution Support Unit, Mr. Vitor Mendonça and the Senior Public Prosecutor from Portugal, Mr. Jose Manuel Santos Pais.  

In the sessions held today, there were discussions about replacing manual statistics with statistics automatically generated by the Case Information System (SMIL), in accordance with the CEPEJ methodology, in which case, the chairman of the Commission for the Administration of Prosecutions, Mr. Jetish Maloku, emphasized the importance of dealing with the good practices of the European systems for the quality of data and statistics and for the necessary conditions to guarantee the quality of the statistics of the country's prosecution offices, in accordance with the CEPEJ methodology. 

In addition, the procedures for collecting statistics and the quality of data entry were discussed, where the recommendations of the expert report were presented online by CEPEJ's expert, Mrs. Ellen Van Dael and presented the manual statistical reports that are currently in use, as well as a discussion with the CMIS User Working Group about the statistical reports available in CMIS and the action plan for the coming months to replace manual statistics with statistics automatically generated by CMIS.

Consequently, according to the participants of this workshop, their main objective is to improve the collection, analysis and use of statistics to advance the quality and efficiency of prosecutions and to support the KPC in replacing manual statistics with statistics automatically generated by CMIS, as well as addressing the large number of unresolved cases.

In tomorrow's sessions, the unresolved cases against unknown perpetrators in European countries and the current situation with the unresolved cases in Kosovo will be presented, as well as discussions will be held on the adequate handling of the large number of unresolved cases in Kosovo's prosecutor's offices.
