The Acting Chief State Prosecutor hosted the representatives of the INL evaluation team for the Justice Sector in Kosovo

 

Prishtinë, 12 March 2024 – Acting Chief State Prosecutor, Mr. Besim Kelmendi, received today in a working meeting the representatives of the evaluation team of the INL for the Justice Sector in Kosovo, headed by Mr. Michael Wasco, Senior Advisor for Justice in the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs that is within the American Department of State and Mrs. Dafina Bardhi – Rexhepi, Program Specialist in INL at the US Embassy in Kosovo.

During this meeting, Acting Chief Prosecutor Kelmendi informed the attendees about the role, structure, functioning and powers of the State Prosecutor's institution. 

In addition, Acting Chief Prosecutor Kelmendi, during this meeting, also spoke about the development of the performance evaluation process of chief prosecutors and state prosecutors, career advancement procedures, as well as the functioning of disciplinary mechanisms, specifically the procedures for initiating cases against prosecutors.

The topic of the joint discussions in this meeting was the continuous support of the Embassy of the United States of America given to the institution of the State Prosecutor in order to strengthen the rule of law in the Republic of Kosovo..

At the end of the meeting Acting Chief State Prosecutor, Mr. Besim Kelmendi thanked Mr. Wasco for the visit to the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor, in which case he highly appreciated the continuous assistance and support of the Embassy of the United States of America given to the needs of the prosecutorial system.
