The Kosovo Prosecutorial Council reacts to the language used by lawyer Berisha towards prosecutor Maloku

Prishtinë, 18 July 2023 - The Kosovo Prosecutorial Council expresses regret for the level of language used by lawyer Besnik Berisha towards the state prosecutor, Rasim Maloku, in an interview given last night on the show "Ditari i Buzhala"”.

KPC emphasizes on this occasion that the use of such language against the state prosecutor is contrary to the mission and role of the State Prosecutor, when it is known correctly that the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo and the laws do not allow actions against the values that it requires the rule of law.

The Kosovo Prosecutorial Council opposes such statements to the work of each prosecutor and in this respect ensures that it will support any commitment and activity that coincides with the achievement of the parameters of a work as efficient as possible until the complete enlightenment and the resolution of various cases, based on the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo and the laws in force.

Therefore, the KPC estimates that this will not diminish the work of the prosecutors, but is a motive towards the full realization of their institutional mission, based on the standards defined by the Criminal Procedure Code and international practices, applicable in Kosovo.

KPC, as an important part of the justice system in our country, expects to work intensively for the enlightenment of this case to the end, pointing out finally and with consequence that the independence of the prosecutorial system is essential and important in the challenging path that we have ahead.
