INDICTMENT FOR WAR CRIMES AGAINST THE CIVILIAN POPULATION
Prishtinë, May 4, 2023 - The Special Prosecution Office of the Republic of Kosovo (SPRK), filed in the Basic Court in Pristina - Special Department, an indictment in absentia against the defendant with the initials Ç.A.
The Special Prosecution Office announces that the accused Ç.A. in the time period January - May 1999, cooperating with a group of criminal people (so far unidentified), organized, wearing police, paramilitary, military uniforms, committed the criminal offense "War crime against the civilian population" ', punished by article 142 of the Criminal Law of the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (hereinafter "FRY") as the law in force at the time of the commission of the criminal offense, currently punishable under the criminal offense of War Crimes in serious violation of article 3 common to the Geneva Conventions and article 4 of Protocol 2 of date 08.06.1977, currently punishable by article 146 and 147 of Penal Code no. 06/L-074 of the Republic of Kosovo (hereinafter "CCRK").
Also, the Special Prosecutor's Office has proposed that the trial be held in absentia as all efforts to find the accused have been exhausted.
