Five Suspects Arrested for Involvement in Armed Trafficking
Prishtina, on March 13, 2023 - Upon the order of the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo, on 12.03.2023, the Kosovo Police, respectively the Directorate for Investigation of Organized Crime, in the course of realization of strategic objectives and operational plans aimed at combating criminal activities related to the field of organized crime, has conducted a police operation in the region of South Mitrovica and Prishtinë, which has included five (5) different locations, resulting in the arrest of five (5) people suspected of trafficking in arms.
The suspects, organized as a dangerous criminal group, are suspected to have committed the criminal offenses "Participation or organization of organized criminal group" from article 277 related to
the criminal offenses "Unauthorized import, export, supply, transport, production, exchange, brokering or sale of weapons or explosive materials" from article 364 and the criminal offense "Unauthorized ownership, control or possession of weapons" from article 366.
During the operation, five (5) people with the initials S. S., S. S., E. Xh., Sh. D. and Sh. J., as well as during the search conducted on residential properties/houses, as material evidence were seized:
- twenty (20) guns (AK-47),
- twenty (20) AK 47 cartridges,
- two vehicles,
- six (6) phones and
- documents relevant to the case.
The Special Prosecution Office remains committed to the full investigation of this case, as well as all cases that are within the competence of this Prosecution Office.
By decision of the competent prosecutor five (5) arrested suspects were sent to detention for 48 hours, to proceed with further legal procedures.
The Kosovo Police and State Prosecutor's Office remain committed to carrying out legal duties and authorizations in the interest of maintaining public order and security, preventing various criminal activities and bringing suspects to justice.
