The Acting Chief State Prosecutor demands higher efficiency in handling corruption cases

Pristina, November 14, 2022 - Acting Chief State Prosecutor, Besim Kelmendi, held a meeting of the Collegium of Chief Prosecutors of the country's prosecution offices, where chief prosecutors, representatives of Prosecution Offices and Prosecutors of the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor attended it.

Chief prosecutors began this meeting reporting about quarter or (3) monthly reports on corruption cases, who revealed their achievements, challenges and difficulties during the handling of these cases. In this context, Acting Chief Prosecutor Kelmendi asked for increased commitment and higher efficiency in handling corruption cases.

They also discussed registration of criminal reports of this nature with the prosecution office, as well as the unification of practices within the prosecutorial system in the handling of criminal charges presented by the parties for criminal offenses against corruption, especially the information and official reports coming from the Police.

Part of the content of this meeting was the discussion regarding international legal cooperation, where the positive movements in the cooperation of the State Prosecutor with other countries were emphasized, as well as the need to deepen this cooperation, especially in the issues of extradition and transfer of criminal proceedings.

In conclusion, Acting Chief Prosecutor Kelmendi asked all chief prosecutors to advance the reporting on the implementation of the Strategic Plan of the Prosecution System.
