The acting Chief State Prosecutor visited the Basic Prosecution Office in Mitrovica and offered support for the continuation of work in accordance with the rule of law.

Prishtinë, 10 November 2022 - Acting Chief State Prosecutor, Besim Kelmendi, accompanied by the member of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, Armend Zenelaj, the acting director of the KPC Secretariat, Valdrin Krasniqi, and other officials visited the Basic Prosecution Office in Mitrovica, after the situation created by the resignation of prosecutors and administrative staff from the Serbian community.

The acting Chief Prosecutor Kelmendi was recently informed by the Chief Prosecutor of the Basic Prosecution in Mitrovica, Ismet Ujkani, about the actions taken by him, the situation created, the challenges and needs of this prosecution in facing and overcoming the difficulties that have arisen after the last situation, where together they discussed finding ways to continue and manage the work as best as possible, apart from dealing with urgent matters.

On this occasion, the acting Chief State Prosecutor examined all possibilities for supporting and providing assistance to this prosecution office based on its powers, including the extraordinary transfer of prosecutors from other prosecution offices for the most efficient work progress in accordance with the rule of law.

Meanwhile, the representatives of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council pledged that they will take all measures to ensure the necessary conditions in order for the Basic Prosecution Office in Mitrovica to function as well as possible and not to create any gaps in the work process.
