Joint Press Release of Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo and Police Inspectorate of Kosovo
Prishtina, 14 March 2022 – At the order of the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo (SPRK), the Police Inspectorate of Kosovo is continuing the operation that started today in the early morning hours in Gjakova and Prizren.
Today's operation is following upon the investigation of about a year with the suspicion of involvement in illegal activities of a number of police officers related to the criminal offenses of "Taking Bribes" and "Abusing official position or authority".
This PIK operation codenamed "Pika" is also being supported by the Kosovo Intelligence Agency, Kosovo Customs and Kosovo Police.
As part of this investigative and operational action, PIK investigators are expected to first escort and then arrest dozens of police officers suspected in this case (mainly border police officers) as well as some customs officials.
PIK will continue to be committed to taking actions aimed at strengthening police integrity while other additional details regarding the course of this operation will be announced today in the afternoon.
