Maloku and Lumezi visit justice institutions in Strasbourg  

Prishtinë, 15 December 2021 – The Chairman of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, Jetish Maloku and the Chief State Prosecutor, Aleksandër Lumezi, paid a four-day visit to Strasbourg, organized by the Council of Europe.

In the framework of this visit, the Chairman of the KPC, Maloku and the Chief State Prosecutor, Lumezi, this visit, which is attended by Kosovar representatives of the highest level of rule of law and human rights, have developed different activities, on which occasion they met with representatives of the Council of Europe, the European Court of Human Rights, the Commissioner for Human Rights and the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT).

In these meetings, the leaders of the Kosovo prosecutorial system, Maloku and Lumezi, discussed a number of topics of interest, which are related to the interpretation of various European conventions, the work of the European Court of Human Rights, the implementation of ICTY decisions and its good practices, cooperation with EC member states in the fight against torture and in support of the criminal justice system, the recommendations of the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment and the digital transformation of judicial and prosecutorial institutions.                             

At the end of the visit to Strasbourg, it was said that these institutions and other European justice mechanisms welcome the mutual cooperation with the representatives of the Kosovo judiciary and will always be in support of their further development and advancement.  ​
