MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN KPC, KJC, KP AND KCA
Prishtina, 26th of April 2016 – For the purposes of practical implementation of the right on judicial defence at public expenditures, in compliance with the applicable Law in Kosova and international instruments applicable in Kosova, today, Kosovo Prosecutorial Council (KPC), Kosovo Judicial Council (KJC), Kosovo Police (KP) and Kosovo Chamber of Advocates, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on establishment of the coordination mechanism for judicial defence at public expenditures in criminal cases.
KP Chairman, Blerim Isufaj, who has signed the named Memorandum on behalf of Prosecutorial Council, said that this signed Memorandum shall establish an important coordination mechanism for judicial defence.
“As KPC Chairman, I promise that we will be engaged on establishment of the opportunity for protection of the rights of the defendants, as justice interests at all criminal procedures stages require”, said Isufaj.
Furthermore, Chairman Isufaj said that State will establish conditions for effective official defence, and simultaneously it will also establish control mechanisms and evaluation performance provided by official defence.
The named Memorandum that foresees establishment of a functional mechanism for judicial defence at public expenditures in criminal cases between signatory parties, for the purposes of ensuring and providing effective and professional services of judicial defence at public expenditures, was supported by OSCE – Mission in Kosova.
