A delegation from the prosecutorial system of Kosova, led by Chief State Prosecutor, Aleksandër Lumezi, is staying for an official visit in Germany

Düsseldorf, 28th of October 2016 – Chief State Prosecutor, Aleksandër Lumezi, accompanied by the Chairman of Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, Blerim Isufaj and some Prosecutors from Prosecutions of our country, are staying for an official visit in Germany, where they are holding separate meetings with Heads of Justice Institutions of Germany, in which they are discussing about organizing of the prosecutorial system of the Republic of Kosova, and organizing of the prosecutorial system in Germany.

During this visit delegation from Kosova has also visited the General Prosecution in Düsseldorf, in which they were hosted from the Chief Prosecutor of the Land Nordrhein-Westfalen, Mr. Emil Brachthäuser. In this meeting the discussions were mainly regarding the structure of the General Prosecution, Prosecutors` evaluation and disciplinary measures imposed against Prosecutors.

Chief Prosecutor Lumezi and Chief Prosecutor Brachthäuser, have also discussed about organizational skills development, in particular the ones regarding prosecutorial strategic policy making, coordination mechanisms, Prosecutors` career development, Prosecutors` responsibility and accountability.

Within this visit, delegation from the Republic of Kosova has visited and Ministry of Justice in Düsseldorf, where were held discussions regarding appointment criteria for Prosecutors in Germany, disciplinary measures against them, as well as Prosecutors` performance evaluation.

This delegation led by Chief State Prosecutor Lumezi has also visited Supreme Court of the Köln Land, where they were hosted by the Deputy President of the Supreme Court of the Land, Mr. Christian Schmitz-Justen. The discussions in this meeting were regarding the work of the penal senates of the Supreme Court of the Land, and cooperation with the General Prosecutor in Köln.

In those meetings, among others, there were discussions regarding the experiences of the prosecutorial system of Germany for the purposes of increasing standards of the prosecutorial system of the Republic of Kosova with the standards of the prosecutorial systems of the most developed countries of Europe.

During those meetings both parties have agreed that they will be engaged in working for expanding the cooperation between the prosecutorial system of the Republic of Kosova and prosecutorial system of Germany, to exchange experiences of Prosecutions of both countries in the fight against criminality for the purposes of increasing effectiveness of the prosecutorial system of Kosova.
