Hyseni: At this beginning of the year there is a progress on dealing with targeted cases

Pristina, May 23 2019- The chairman of Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, Mr. Bahri Hyseni, has participated in the publication of the Court Monitoring Report for 2018 prepared by BIRN and "Internews Kosova".

Regarding the findings of this report, chairman Hyseni, said that they were prepared based on the reflection of the reality, so the individual cases presented in this report shows that we need to change.

The KPC Chair, Mr. Bahri Hyseni, further said that although there are significant work outcomes, the foreseen results still lack the objectives of the Kosovo prosecutorial system, adding that progress has been made but is not the desired one.

Following, the KPC leader underlined that one of the objectives of the prosecutorial system of Kosovo is the quickest conclusion of the targeted cases, whereas the beginning of 2019 is highly evaluated because there is progress in these cases.

As for the confiscation, chairman Hyseni said that the results are very small, if the amount of seizures is compared and what has been seized but is being worked out jointly with the Kosovo Judicial Council to achieve the best results in this regard.

Regarding the performance evaluation of prosecutors, chairman Hyseni said: "We are finalizing the Regulation on Discipline, a regulation that guarantees that we will have a different situation. In this regard, we have had concrete actions against prosecutors who have had insufficient performance assessment”.

Chairman Hyseni agreed with the report's assessment of the problems raised in the claims for legality protection, saying legal changes should be made in order to avoid appearing problems.

At the end of his speech on this report, which contains recommendations, the chairman Hyseni said that the recommendations of this report on the prosecutorial system are feasible.
