Discussion of the definitions of review policies for judicial system
Pristina, 12 June 2019-the Chairman of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, Mr. Bahri Hyseni, together with the General Director of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council Secretariat, Mr. Lavdim Krasniqi and the director of the Prosecution Performance Evaluation Unit, Valon Jupa, hosted a meeting the representative of the United States embassy in Kosovo, Julie Mosley.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the progress of policy making in the process of functional review of the justice sector, such as the definition of essential issues related to independence and the definition of key principles for the organization, control and oversight of the prosecutorial system.
On this occasion, the Chairman informed the US Embassy representative on the latest developments and activities carried out in this regard, especially in the field of building and strengthening professional and administrative capacities, emphasizing that it is being worked on continuously that the independence and accountability to be basic principles for defining the policies of the prosecutorial system in Kosovo.
Among other issues discussed were: structuring issues, mandate and issues related to the way of recruiting, transferring and advancing prosecutors, applying the right forms, procedures and criteria, then assessing the performance of prosecutors based on of quantitative and qualitative criteria.
At this meeting, both sides agreed to have specific focus and concrete support for policy-making related to functional review and harmonization of common positions for advancing the prosecutorial system.
