UNDP Project Board Meeting "Improving Access to Justice and Rule of Law Reform”

Pristina, 17 June 2019- In the framework of the activities and the results achieved, Deputy Chairman of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, Arben Ismajli, together with the General Director of the KPC Secretariat, Lavdim Krasniqi, participated in the meeting of the UNDP Project Board "Improvement Access to Justice and Reform of the Rule of Law ", supported by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Norwegian Embassy in Pristina, which was attended by the heads of the justice system.

The purpose of this project is to support the reform of the justice sector and to improve access to justice, with a particular focus on women's rights, disadvantaged and marginalized groups, and to promote human rights standards for all.

In this framework, the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council is being offered support for the improvement and development of secondary policies and legislation, analyzing and recommended fundamental changes in the professional development of prosecutors and administration.

In this context, the deputy chairman of KPC, Mr. Arben Ismajli, said that the UNDP support through the Norwegian Embassy in Kosovo with the UNDP project “Improvement Access to Justice and Reform of the Rule of Law” is support for the policy development and strategic documents, including capacity building of the legal staff and mechanisms for alternative dispute solution, as mediation cases, emphasizing that this support affects directly in the advancement and strengthening of the Prosecutorial System within the process of functional review of the rule of law sector to create a more efficient, transparent, accountable and integrity system.

Also, UNDP Coordinator, Ardian Latifaj, presented the Six Month Progress Report, which featured the main developments related to the concrete support of the UNDP Project "Improving Access to Justice and Rule of Law Reform ".
