The public call for the nomination of candidates for the position of Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Prosecutorial Council is opened and the competition for the recruitment of 28 new prosecutors is announced

Prishtinë, 15 January 2024 - The Kosovo Prosecutorial Council (KPC), led by the Chairman Mr. Jetish Maloku, held the 240th meeting in a row.

KPC, initially, after the treatment and discussions held in today's meeting, approved the Report on the activities and recommendations of the National Coordinator for Combating Economic Crime for the period July-September 2023 and approved the request of prosecutor Shpëtim Peci for his transfer from the Special Prosecutor's Office to Basic Prosecutor's Office in Mitrovica from March 1, 2024, as well as approved the resignation of prosecutor Slavica Popovic from the Basic Prosecutor's Office in Gjilan, for which it was decided to send the proposal to the President of the country for release from office.

The Council, after approving the proposals of the Chief Prosecutor of the Special Prosecution, the Basic Prosecution in Pristina and the Basic Prosecution in Gjakova, appointed the following deputy chief prosecutors: prosecutor Valdet Gashi in the Special Prosecution, prosecutor Elza Bajrami in the Basic Prosecution in Pristina and prosecutor Sadri Alija in Basic Prosecutor's Office in Gjakovë, as well as appointed department heads in the Special Prosecutor's Office, as follows: prosecutor Ilir Morina, head of the Department for War Crimes, prosecutor Afrim Shefkiu, head of the Department for Terrorism and prosecutor Valdet Gashi, head of the Department for Corruption and Financial Crime, while the appointment of the head of the Department for Juveniles in the Basic Prosecutor's Office in Pristina has been postponed until the procedure for advancement to the Special Prosecutor's Office is completed.

The KPC also dealt with the Analysis of the Prosecution Performance Review Unit the and the Commission for the Administration of Prosecutions for the opening of the competition for state prosecutors, in which case it made a decision to open the competition for the recruitment of 28 new prosecutors from January 22, 2024 and established the Commission for the Recruitment of Prosecutors and the Commission for Review of Complaints.

One of today's KPC decisions was the opening of the public call for nominations for candidates for the position of Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, whose submission deadline will start from January 16, 2024 and will be open three days. 

KPC also dealt with two reports of the Performance Evaluation Commission for performance evaluation and the objection presented by a prosecutor, as well as held at the end of the meeting a disciplinary hearing for the case of a prosecutor in the Basic Prosecutor's Office in Prishtina, while the decision will be issued as provided by the Law.
