The General Director of the KPC Secretariat hosted Acting Manager of the VAAO in a meeting
Prishtinë, 12 January 2024 - The General Director of the Secretariat of the KPC (SKPC), Mr. Sami Istrefi, received in a working meeting Acting manager of the Victims Advocacy and Assistance Office (VAAO), Mr. Burhan Maxhuni.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss finding ways and forms for providing support in strengthening and raising capacities, as well as identifying challenges and overcoming them in the field of representing the interests of victims and providing services to victims of crime during legal procedures of the defenders of the victims in the country's prosecutor's offices and courts.
General Director, Mr. Sami Istrefi, on this occasion, emphasized that today's discussions express the common commitment to see more clearly and in perspective the administrative support that will be offered to the VAAO and its troops, emphasizing that it is already in the process of completing and Changing the Regulation on the Mandate, Structure, Functioning and Organization of the Victims Advocacy and Assistance Office, which will affect the advancement of the activity and the necessary resources, and in addition to this, we will also take into account the addition of administrative actions to concretely implement the empowerment and raising the capacities of this prosecutorial institution and generally for the defenders of the victims.
Mr. Maxhuni thanked for the reception, saying that he welcomes the support and support offered by the General Director of the SKPC, because only in this way is the performance of our duties and responsibilities strengthened and there can be a decent representation of the interests of the victims of violence in court proceedings in Kosovo.
Mr. Istrefi and Mr. Maxhuni have agreed to work together on the basis of annual planning, identifying issues and challenges faced by the VAAO and generally the defenders of victims.
