Chairman Maloku received the new head of EULEX, Giovanni Barbano, at the meeting

Prishtinë, 18 October 2023 – The chairman of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council (KPC), Jetish Maloku, has held a meeting with the new head of EULEX in Kosovo, Giovanni Barbano.

Chairman Maloku thanked the head of EULEX, Barbano, for his visit to the Prosecutorial Council and congratulated him for his mandate, emphasizing that the prosecutorial system is committed to coordination and continuous cooperation with this mission to guarantee the strengthening of the rule of law in Kosovo, based on EU best practices and standards.

On this occasion, the head of EULEX expressed his gratitude for the waiting and the willingness of the mission he leads to provide even further the necessary support and assistance for the prosecutorial system, in order to have a joint commitment to the advancement of the rule of law in Kosovo.

Also, during today's meeting, it was discussed that the prosecutorial system of Kosovo must remain intact against any political interference and against any other interference either inside or outside the prosecutorial system, in order to properly realize its independent mission, impartial and transparent in all its engagements and in accordance with the legal and constitutional mandate.

 In the framework of this meeting, due to the importance of cooperation in the field of the rule of law and the fight against organized crime, both sides agreed to continue on the way forward and have increased commitment to overcome the challenges to realism of missions defined for the achievement of objectives that influence the strengthening of the rule of law in Kosovo.
