Prishtina, November 26, 2024 – As part of the global campaign “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence,” Prosecutor Laura Pula from the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor participated as a panelist in the conference “United Against Violence – Enough!” organized by the Ministry of Justice. The conference focused on addressing gender-based violence and domestic violence.
In her address, Prosecutor Pula, who also serves as the Coordinator Against Domestic Violence and Gender-Based Violence in the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor, emphasized the vital role of the State Prosecutor in addressing reported cases of violence. She highlighted the importance of prioritizing the investigation and prosecution of domestic and gender-based violence cases. “Since 2018, the Prosecutorial Council has prioritized these cases by appointing specialized prosecutors dedicated exclusively to handling domestic violence cases,” stated Prosecutor Pula.
She further underlined the need to analyze gender-based violence cases, particularly in the context of femicides. She pointed out that in many instances of family homicides, recidivism and systemic abuse play a significant role, with femicide often being the final act of violence experienced by women subjected to prolonged abuse. Prosecutor Pula stressed the importance of advocacy and active societal engagement in creating long-term solutions to combat these crimes.
