Prishtinë, 2 December 2024 – Within the framework of the official visit to the justice institutions of the Republic of Turkey, the Chairman of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, Mr. Ardian Hajdaraj and the Acting Chief State Prosecutor, Mr. Besim Kelmendi, accompanied by the Deputy Chairperson Ms. Jehona Grantolli, members of the KPC, the General Director of the Secretariat of the KPK and that of the PPRU, as well as officials of the prosecutorial system administration, began today meetings with senior officials of the Academy of Justice, and will continue with those at the Judicial Council, the Prosecutorial Council of Turkey and the Constitutional Court of Turkey.
On this occasion, Chairman Hajdaraj, in his welcoming speech, said that our discussions and interest will focus on getting to know the operation of the Academy of Justice and the legal education it develops for prosecutors, obtaining basic information related to the techniques and methods of the work of the councils, performance evaluation and discipline, but also on administrative management practices, which as a whole constitute support for the relevant mechanisms, transparency and general accountability.
Also, the Acting Chief State Prosecutor, Mr. Kelmendi, underlined the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation with the Turkish Government, with a particular focus on issues related to the effective investigation and prosecution of perpetrators of specific criminal offenses, including public corruption, confiscation and sequestration of assets, cooperation in the field of providing international legal assistance and combating terrorism.
The visit of representatives of the prosecutorial system to Turkish justice institutions is being carried out with the support of the Embassy of Turkey in Kosovo, and during today’s activities and those expected to take place during this visit, there will be discussions on increasing bilateral cooperation in sectors of common interest and information, perspectives and experiences from the perspective of the development of the justice system of the Turkish state will be discussed, which can be used to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the work of the Council and the State Prosecutor.
