The Kosovo Prosecutorial Council ensures transparency in the process of electing the new Chief State Prosecutor

Prishtinë, 13 January 2022 – Kosovo Prosecutorial Council (KPC), on January 12, 2022, in its 208th meeting in a row, respecting the legal deadlines, respectively Regulation no. 06/2019 on the appointment of the Chief State Prosecutor and Chief Prosecutors of the Prosecutions of the Republic of Kosovo, which stipulates that the vacancy is announced at least 90 days before the expiration of the mandate of the current Chief State Prosecutor, has decided to announce the vacancy for the election of the new Chief State Prosecutor.

KPC has timely informed all international and local partners with the agenda of its 208th meeting, where the proposal for announcing the Competition for the election of the new Chief State Prosecutor was set as an item on the agenda.

The Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, as it has decided to announce the vacancy, based on legal deadlines, will continue all procedures until the election of a new Chief State Prosecutor, respecting the laws and other bylaws governing this process.

Also, the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, as in other processes, in this process will invite international partners for monitoring, in order to make the election of the new Chief Prosecutor of the Republic of Kosovo as transparent as possible.   

The Kosovo Prosecutorial Council highly appreciates the continuous support provided by international partners, therefore it will continue to cooperate for all processes of the Kosovo prosecutorial system, in order to strengthen and continuously increase the efficiency of this system.
