Request for detention on remand for the persons who attacked the leaders of the Trepça Combine
Mitrovicë, 19 October 2021 – Basic Prosecution in Mitrovica - General Department, has requested from the Basic Court in Mitrovica detention on remand for the suspect RI, due to reasonable suspicion that he committed the criminal offense "Assault" under Article 184 paragraph 1 of the CCRK, while for the suspects BS, BI, Sh.R., and ZI, due to the existence of reasonable suspicion of committing the criminal offenses "Minor bodily injury" under Article 185 paragraph 1, and "Assault on the official person" under Article 402 paragraph 2 of Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo.
According to the request of the prosecution submitted to the court, there is a grounded suspicion that the suspects, being dissatisfied with the decision of the Government of Kosovo on the appointment of a new director at the Trepça Combine, under the leadership of the former director RI, workers have gathered and protested, in which case the suspect - former director RI, physically attacked the new director E.A.
While, the suspects BS, BI, Sh.R., and ZI, have physically attacked the injured EA, and BH, who have suffered minor bodily injuries, and also these suspects have attacked the police officers who intervened in this case, in which case police officers suffered minor bodily injuries.
The five suspects were detained by the decision of the prosecutor yesterday, October 18, and the same is in detention for 48 hours.
Detention hearing for detainees is expected to be held in front of the pre-trial judge of the Basic Court in Mitrovica.
