Detention on remand is required against two persons for Abuse of Official Position or Authority and Smuggling of Goods
Gjilan, October 12, 2021 - The Basic Prosecution in Gjilan, the Department for Serious Crimes has requested the measure of detention on remand to be imposed by the Basic Court in Gjilan, against the defendants M.A. and N.K., who by order of the prosecutor are under the measure of 48 hours detention.
According to the request, there is a grounded suspicion that on 05 October 2021, the defendant M.A., in the capacity of official person - forest guard, at the forest authority in the municipality of Kamenica, intentionally abused his official position by stamping about 12 cubic meters. pine trees, despite the fact that this amount of wood was smuggled by the Republic of Serbia, in which case he legalized this amount of wood, enabling the other defendant N.K., to benefit by damaging the budget of the Republic of Kosovo.
With these actions, the defendant M.A., is suspected of having committed the criminal offense “Abuse of official position or authority”, while the defendant N.K. is suspected of the criminal offense “Smuggling of goods” under the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo.
