The Chief Prosecutor of the Appellate Prosecution and the Chief Prosecutors of the 6 Basic Prosecution Offices are elected

Prishtina, December 24, 2020 - The Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, chaired by Chairman Bahri Hyseni, held its 191st meeting in a row.

Today's meeting began with the review of the Regulation on the engagement and setting of fees for the compensation of translators and interpreters engaged in the prosecutorial system, a Regulation which was also approved by the members of the Council.

In continuation, the Report of the Commission for review of the objections submitted by the candidates for Chief Prosecutors of the Basic Prosecution Offices of Gjakova, Gjilan, Prizren and Peja was presented and discussed.

Following the discussions, the Council partially approved this report, which consequently rejected the objections submitted by the candidates.

Subsequently, the Council conducted the voting process for the election of the Chief Prosecutor of the Appellate Prosecution and the Chief Prosecutors of the 6 Basic Prosecution Offices.

Xhevdet Bislimi was elected Chief Prosecutor of the Appellate Prosecution, with 11 votes in favor and none against.

Agim Kurmehaj has been elected Chief Prosecutor of the Basic Prosecution of Peja, with 11 votes in favor and none against.

Shukri Jashari was elected Chief Prosecutor of the Basic Prosecution of Ferizaj, with 11 votes in favor and none against.

Ismet Ujkani was elected Chief Prosecutor of the Basic Prosecution of Mitrovica, with 10 votes in favor and 1 against.

For the Chief Prosecutor of the Basic Prosecution in Prizren, the competition took place between prosecutors Admir Shala and Ervehe Gashi, where after the voting process; Admir Shala was elected Chief Prosecutor of this Prosecution with 7 votes in favor, while his counter-candidate received 4 votes.

For the Chief Prosecutor of the Basic Prosecution in Gjilan, the competition took place between prosecutors Arben Kadriu and Agron Uka, where after the voting process Arben Kadriu was elected Chief Prosecutor of this Prosecution with 6 votes in favor while his counter-candidate received 5 votes.

Whereas, the competition for the Basic Prosecution of Gjakova will be re-announced, because the candidate for Chief Prosecutor, Ardita Beqiraj-Hyseni was not voted for this position.

At the end of the meeting, the Council approved the Report of the Commission for re-evaluating the performance of 4 prosecutors.
