The Chief State Prosecutor, Aleksander Lumezi, joined the global campaign “16 days of activism against gender-based violence”


Prishtina, 4 December 2020 - The Chief State Prosecutor, Aleksandër Lumezi, joined the global campaign “16 days of activism against gender-based violence”, which is coordinated by the UN Office in Kosovo and aims to raise public awareness to violence against women.

In his message, the Chief State Prosecutor, Aleksandër Lumezi, reconfirmed his support for joint efforts in combating violence against women, providing access to justice and institutional protection for all those women who have suffered from various acts of violence.

Recently, the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo has been enriched with the adoption of a constitutional amendment based on which the Istanbul Convention becomes part of the highest legal act, thus providing an important instrument in preventing and combating violence against women.

The “16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence” campaign, which takes place every year in different parts of the world, aims to eliminate gender-based violence.
