KPC Chairman, Hyseni, Attends Second Regional Coordination Meeting against Weapons Trafficking

Tirana, 21 November 2019 - The Chairman of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, Bahri Hyseni, attends the Second Regional Coordination Meeting in Tirana on the implementation of the Roadmap for a sustainable solution to the illegal possession, misuse and trafficking of small and light weapons and their ammunition in the Western Balkans until 2024, an event funded by the European Union. 

Consequently, at this meeting, attended by representatives of the EU, the Regional Cooperation Council and the Ministries of Internal Affairs of the countries of South East and Eastern Europe were discussed issues related to the implementation of this roadmap.

Speaking about the implementation of this regional guide on weapons, Kosovo Prosecutorial Council Chairman Bahri Hyseni emphasized the importance of the Tracking Mechanism for characteristic offenses, including weapons, saying that in the Case Management Information System (CMIS) database record all information, including “PP” criminal reports and “PPN” information on characteristic criminal offenses and the persons involved. Meanwhile, the Prosecutorial Council has appointed a prosecutor as the focal point for cooperation in combating weapons-related offenses.  

On the other hand, in the first and second sessions discussions on assessing the progress, challenges and needs of the participating countries were dominated, and an action plan was presented, including progress on set goals and identified needs.

Participants have also pledged that national and international mechanisms will be strongly engaged to provide planned support for the implementation of this guideline, as well as to monitor the implementation of regional findings, and to continually present key performance indicators of this guideline.
